These are customarily not eaten by Ashkenazim due to their similarities to Chametz when harvested or ground into flour and because they are often grown in close proximity to Chametz grains (such as wheat, barley, spelt, rye and oats). Alfalfa sprouts, aniseed, beans (all varieties), buckwheat, chia seeds, chickpeas, corn, fennel seed, flaxseed, lentils (all varieties), millet, mustard (including seeds), peanut, peas, poppy seeds, rice, sesame seeds, snow peas, soy beans, sugar snap, sunflower kernel, canola oil, flaxseed oil, sunflower oil, peanut oil, sesame oil and safflower oil. The following items containing kitniyot have been produced chametz free and may be used by those sephardim who eat kitniyot and Ashkenazim who have received Rabbinic dispensation to use kitniyot on medical grounds.
